Requirements for a Grant
- Your organization must be able to provide the Foundation with a copy of your currently valid Internal Revenue Service exemption letter designating it as a 501(c)(3) organization.
- Your organization must be physically located within one of these counties of Western New York State : Erie , Genesee , Cattaraugus , Wyoming , Niagara , Chautauqua, Allegany.
- This Foundation is prohibited by Charter restrictions from giving grants to sectarian organizations and does not make any grants to individuals.
- The Foundation will not accept a grant application from your organization within eighteen months following the date any prior request was approved.
- Your organization must provide a complete copy of its most recent Tax Form 990.

It is the general policy of the Foundation not to fund operating budgets. An exception may be made for seed money for a new project where a source of future funding has been reasonably established. Likewise, the Foundation does not ordinarily contribute to the renovations of structures not owned by a not-for-profit organization. Applications for major medical expenses or hospital funds are also declined.
Your organization must complete the grant application form and provide two signed copies of the Application form. The next available quarterly deadline date may be obtained by calling the foundation office. All attachments should be in a format that will allow for easy photocopying. Otherwise, please provide twelve (12) copies of brochures etc. you wish the trustees to review with the Application.. Grant requests are generally reviewed within three months of receipt by the WNY Foundation. |
